Sightings of Swifty have been recorded as far back as 1965, the year the reservoir was constructed. Often accompanying UFO activity and reports, witnesses generally describe a 12-20ft long creature with friendly big eyes, a long neck and smooth dark brown to black skin. Experiencers often describe a sense of friendly telepathic communication with the creature, whose message is often one of the importance of taking care of the reservoir and of natural conservation in general. Witnesses have also frequently reported seeing owls before and after their sightings of Swifty, who seems to play and swim more frequently at night.
